Not All Inflammation Is the Same: What Not to Miss
Presented by Lisa Faia, MD

This talk will include a uveitis introduction and an approach to diagnosis. We will explore worrisome etiologies including emergent and urgent referrals.

Dr. Lisa J. Faia is currently a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and Partner at the Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, MI.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) from the George Washington University in Washington D.C. and her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA.  She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. She then went on to specialty training at the National Eye Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where she completed a two-year fellowship in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis and Medical Retina.  From there, she completed a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants, William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan.

Dr. Faia joined as staff in 2011 and is a board-certified ophthalmologist with special interest and expertise in the surgical and medical management of vitreoretinal diseases and uveitis.  Currently, she is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pan-American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, American Uveitis Society, American Medical Association, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Retina Society, Club Jules-Gonin, and Association in Research of Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Faia has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of ocular inflammation and uveitis and retina and authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews on these subjects.

We begin at 6 p.m. with networking, appetizers, and cash bar (credit cards not accepted), followed by the meeting and dinner at 6:45 p.m. Members are encouraged to invite guests.

ncil for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Wisconsin Medical Society and the Milwaukee Ophthalmological Society. The Wisconsin Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

TARGET AUDIENCE AND SCOPE OF PRACTICE
This program is intended for ophthalmologists and ophthalmological surgeons who work with patients that have eye diseases and disorders. The secondary target audience is ophthalmological residents.
