Lyme Uveitis: Fact or Fiction?

Lyme disease is endemic to all Midwestern states bordering Lake Michigan, as well as parts of New England. Our ophthalmology training has reinforced the teaching that Lyme disease is a common cause of intermediate uveitis, however most uveitis specialists have never seen a definitive case. The reasons behind this are multifactorial, and include inconsistencies in laboratory test diagnosis and interpretation, the infiltration of the idea of "chronic Lyme disease" in popular media, and the archetypal uveitis dilemma of chicken vs. egg (direct infection by Lyme organism or immunological response to Lyme antigens?)

We begin at 6 p.m. with networking, appetizers, and cash bar, followed by the meeting and dinner at 6:45 p.m. Members are encouraged to invite guests.
